About Montra Tarot and Boden

My name is Boden and I am the owner of Montra Tarot.

I'm more than happy to read the Tarot for you. I've always wanted to help people and I feel like bringing them the messages and guidance they need through the Tarot is my way of contributing to that desire. I have three decades of experience and will use that to provide you with the best reading possible.

Who Am I?

A little about me.

I have been practicing reading tarot since I received my first deck, The Dragon Tarot, as a gift in 1991. While I no longer have that deck as I passed it on to another aspiring Tarot reader, I have amassed a large collection of decks over the last three decades.

I have taken many classes, workshops, and intensives to better myself with reading the Tarot. I am always learning from the Tarot, and it is my strong belief that one never stops learning from it if they are doing it correctly. I feel I have been called to provide the messages from ‘Spirit’ (or whatever you call it) to my customers.

The meaning of Boden

My name, Boden, means many things in many different cultures, but I found they tend to apply to me very well. In Anglo-Saxon, the meaning of the name Boden is “messenger”, which is appropriate for a Tarot reader. In Celtic, the meaning of the name is “blond”, which I am. In French, it means “he who delivers the news”. And in Scandinavian, it means “a shelter”.

For those that do numerology, the name number for Boden is 22, giving me a Soul Urge number of 11 and a Personality number of 11. In a nutshell, this means that I am an ambitious, inspirational person with a deep inner desire to inspire others in a higher cause and I tend to be a powerful force to all whose lives I touch. Take that as you will, but I find it’s accurate for how I see myself.

A brief synopsis of my life.

My father was a career Air Force NCO and my mother majored in English. From my youth, I was a very social person. I loved to be around others, but I also loved my “me time”. My formative years were spent in New Hampshire, my teen years were spent in Louisiana, and I used to call Austin, TX my home until I moved to Ohio. I have been here since 2006 and I think that’s long enough to start labeling a place as “where I am from”.

I spent 6 years in the US Army and 9 years in the US Navy. I have been to conflict areas three times in my military career and upon hearing that I was going “over there” for a fourth time if I reenlisted, I decided to leave the service and attend college. I obtained a degree in Digital Sound and Video and am a graphic designer and video editor in my mundane life. I also almost finished a degree in American Sign Language Interpretation, but I stopped when I discovered I was losing my joy of signing, which I started learning in 4th grade.

I have been with my husband since 2004 and we have two adopted sons, Travis and Jose. We have a black lab, Belladonna, and a Bengal cat, Tiresias, because my husband is allergic to normal cats. I tend to be a goofy person, but I know when it’s time to be serious. I take my Tarot readings very seriously. I consider myself to be an eclectic Pagan and believe that everyone is entitled to their own religious preferences – just don’t try to force them on anyone else.

What Tarot Can Do

Tarot is a tool that has been used by diviners since the late 18th century, but the decks have been around 300 years before that. Some people believe they were used in secret as divination tools long before they were used as games in the mid-15th century. As a diviner, I believe the Tarot is used to bring you messages from "Spirit", where Spirit is defined as the power you believe in. Whether that is a deity, and energy, or your own consciousness (or unconsciousness). Whatever you get your inspiration from, that’s what speaks to you through the Tarot.

The Tarot presents those messages to you in a manner that makes it easily understood by you, most of the time. I say "most of the time", because there are circumstances where you don’t know what the message is talking about - yet. Usually, this is when Spirit is trying to tell you of something yet to come.

If you give it a chance, you never know what you might find out.

The History of Montra Tarot

I officially started my company, Montra Tarot LTD, in 2019, but I used to read Tarot under my old DJ company, MoBu Entertainment. I dissolved that company after we started fostering kids as it was very difficult to be the stay-at-home-dad and raise children with problems all over the spectrum. I felt a strong desire to continue my Tarot readings, however, and in 2019, I took a Tarot intensive (26 weeks long) course with my eldest son. We were going to go into business together, but his schoolwork and part-time job took him away from the company. We did manage to name the company before that. It’s a combination of my mundane name and his first name – Monte and Travis (Montra). That, if you were wondering, is why it’s not spelled M-A-N-T-R-A.
